Congregational Mission Offering (CMO)

As our members, friends and visitors offer money to the Lord through the church, our church offers money to the Lord for the world-wide work of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.  We call it our Congregational Mission Offering.  This year we promised to send 10% more than last year, bringing our total offering to $48,400.  To date (March 31) we have sent in $8,070, about 7% of what we have received in offerings.  Our goal is to get that figure up to about 10% of our offerings.

What we give to the synod, our national church body, goes to train future pastors and teachers.  That is the main expense.  It also goes towards starting mission churches—like ours in 1989.  We received over $100,000 in operating expenses in those days—and keeping mission churches going, helping with interest subsidy and things like that.  It also goes towards sending missionaries to preach and teach in every continent on the planet.

To spread the Gospel—to those who do not yet know Jesus and to those who will be coming into the world in the near future—that’s what our Congregational Mission Offering does.  As we encourage you to view what you give to the Lord as an important part of your family budget, an amount you can be proud and happy to donate, so we want to view what we give our national church as an important piece of the pie.
